Land Body Ecologies at Cop27

We attended the COP27 conference to highlight how climate change and health are intimately linked.

Land Body Ecologies (LBE) team members Daniel Kobei of Ogiek People’s Development Program – OPDP and Sylvia Kokunda of Action for Batwa Empowerment Group – ABEG, our two hub leads in the Africa region, attended the major conference COP27 (8–16 November 2022), in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, as representatives of our project.

In addition to their presence at the conference, LBE collaborated with the World Health Organisation for COP27 on two fronts:

  • Invisible Flock designed and curated the WHO space at COP27, the Health Pavilion. Alongside artworks by other artists, this included new commissions by Invisible Flock and Jon Bausor, the large-scale sculpture Bodies Joined by a Molecule of Air (2022), featured in the image above. Collaborating artists featured include black & brown films, Jenni Laiti, Ogiek People’s Development Program and Land Body Ecologies, Kasia Molga and Claire De Waard. Read about the design and artworks here.

  • LBE team members and collaborators also joined as speakers and organisers at a series of side events held at the Health Pavilion throughout the conference's 2-week programme. All events were streamed live online. Watch the events here

Below you will find the schedule of events that LBE participated in at the Health Pavilion, followed by the announcement of Invisible Flock’s work designing and curating the space.
